(OCT 2009) UNICON IS UPGRADING its older tailor-made distribution planning system delivered by Transvision to the standardised planning system Transvision Concrete Planner.
Today, Unicon has 88 plants in Denmark, Norway and Sweden and thereby constitutes the largest ready-mix supplier in Scandinavia.Unicon has a wide and deep product range and a fleet of all-size modern concrete trucks and pumpsenabling them to handle all sorts of jobs.
In order to succeed in the ready-mix concrete industry, it requires a great focus on the delivery accuracy as the product life span is short and the delivery time windows at customer sites are extremely tight. Customer service is a big priority at Unicon, and in general their objective is to exceed their customers’ expectations. Using Transvision Concrete Planner is a central part of this strategy.
In 2004, the Italian company Cementir Holding bought Unicon. In an effort to get a more uniform and coherent IT structure within the organisation, Cementir has now decided that all companies in the group are to use SAP. Now it is time for Unicon to implement SAP, and in this connection it is also time to upgrade to Transvision Concrete Planner in order to gain the advantages of Transvision’s standardized and industry-specific transportation planning system.
Through Transvision’s concept of combining standardized systems with the ability to incorporate amendments, Unicon has together with Transvision enhanced the ready-mix concrete specific functionality even more. The overall scope of the use of Transvision’s system has been increased, and with the new features Unicon will be able to make better use of its semitrailers and pump trucks. This will ultimately affect the efficiency positively.
When the new Transvision Concrete planner will go live, it will be rolled out on Unicon’s 88 plants and approx. 400 trucks in Scandinavia. At Transvision, we are looking forward to a continuing good cooperation with Unicon, and to continuing to contribute with the optimisation of Unicon’s customer service and the cost heavy distribution.
