(JAN. 2009) THE MARKET LEADING Danish crisps company KiMs A/S has decided to implement Transvision Route Planner. The main purpose of implementing the system is to free up time (by lowering the km driven) for the salesmen and thereby increasing the time in the stores with the customers.

KiMs produces and sells crisps and snacks in Denmark and has a market share of approx. 50 %. KiMs is owned by the large Norwegian company Orkla.

At KiMs, Transvision Route Planner will be used to optimise the routes and districts for 27 salesmen who visit retailers, convenience stores, kiosks, gas stations, etc.

On top of this the system will be used to select the days on which the customers are visited. Over a 12 week sales cycle the salesmen visit the customers with different frequencies depending on the size of and revenue generated by the store. A part of the optimisation is therefore to select the optimal visit day still respecting the visit frequencies.

Optimising districts, routes and visit days over a 12 week period for 27 salesmen is an extremely complex task and it is almost impossible to manually manage it in a qualitatively satisfying way. This is a task which Transvision Route Planner is extremely well suited for with its strong frequency planning functionality and powerful route optimisation capabilities.
