(AUG. 2007) TRANSVISION IS NOW LAUNCHING the module Transvision Fleet Planner MOBILE; it is Transvision’s application for mobile communication and data exchange between the office planning system and the drivers’ mobile units.
MOBILE receives route and order information in real-time and submits status changes, order information and vehicle locations to the planning system. Moreover, the application contains the exact same company specific adjusted map data from the office solution which provides the driver with truck specific navigation.
The module is a true client on the central planning server just like the clients installed in the office on the planners’ PCs. The MOBILE naturally has its own presentation layer, but this way the mobile application contains the exact same data model as the office client.
MOBILE is a part of the standard Transvision Fleet Planner system and therefore any new functionality is deployed for both the office and mobile application simultaneously. This eliminates the need for data conversion and system integration between the office planning system and the mobile application.
All in all, Transvision Fleet Planner MOBILE is a significant development which makes the unique Transvision Fleet Planner even better.
Transvision Fleet Planner MOBILE is being introduced to the market at the coming information meetings where Statoil’s use of the system will be illustrated.
