(JUNE 2007) DANSK GRISETRANSPORT HAS IMPLEMENTED Transvision Fleet Planner for planning and optimisation of the transport of pigs to the slaughterhouses for Danish Crown and Tican.
Dansk Grisetransport is a subsidiary of SPF-Danmark which has been using Transvision’s planning systems for several years. When the division Dansk Grisetransport won large parts of the live pig transportation for Danish Crown, and later for Tican, Transvision Fleet Planner was implemented.
A planning system capable of planning and managing the restrictions and regulations within live pig transportation is vital for a successful operation and company. This is due to a large set of complex planning rules and regulations regarding execution, control and reporting aiming to protect the livestock during transportation.
Transvision Fleet Planner was chosen because of its capability of managing this large set of planning restrictions and the comprehensive demands for data integration for reporting and monitoring.
The orders are automatically imported from the farmers’ portal where the farmers register the number of pigs ready for slaughtering. Thereafter, the system assists the planner in setting up an optimised collection plan taking both regulations and the slaughterhouses production capacity into consideration.
The finished route plans are submitted to the farmers’ portal to display the pick-up times and it is submitted to the Danish Slaughterhouse Organisation’s portal to provide information about expected delivery times at the slaughterhouses. At the same time, the tour lists are sent to the on-board-computers with detailed information to the driver about routes and orders.
Due to the fact that Transvision Fleet Planner is capable of managing the many transport restrictions as well as controlling the live data and reporting, it has become possible for Dansk Grisetransport to grow fast in a difficult market. Many transport companies have to give up the haulage due to complexity and regulations, and Dansk Grisetransport is simply capable of quickly absorbing the transport of these companies into their streamlined operation.
